The Terrace Zome
A faceted timber-and-glass zome that turns an exposed city rooftop into a daylit home office. The glazed crown pulls in sky on three sides while the insulated timber spine takes the prevailing wind, and a wall of vertical growing racks sits within arm’s reach of the desk.
Planting StrategyRinged by corten and timber raised beds planted with dwarf citrus and hardy herbs, chosen to hold their own in rooftop wind and reflected heat. Interior racks carry fast-turnaround salad greens.
The Canopy Pavilion
Curved glulam ribs sweep over a glazed garden studio set beneath an existing shade tree. The arc opens the desk to the whole garden through full-height glass, while the deep timber shell cuts afternoon glare on the screen.
Planting StrategySited inside a mature canopy so the structure inherits its shade rather than fighting it. The surrounding beds run soft fruit — currants and berries — through a flowering understory that keeps pollinators working the plot.
The Atrium Pod
A compact ovoid pod in slatted timber and glass, sized for a walled courtyard where floor area is scarce. One person, one desk, north light through the glazed arch, and every other surface put to work growing something.
Planting StrategyA planted green roof of shallow-rooted herbs sits directly above the desk, and the flank wall carries a trellis of climbing cucumber. Terracotta pots step down to the paving so the whole footprint is productive.
The Solarium Extension
A lean-to solarium in heavy timber post-and-beam, bolted to an existing masonry wall so the house carries the load and shares its warmth. The glazed roof runs the full depth, making a workspace that reads as garden rather than annexe.
Planting StrategyThe sheltered glass envelope holds subtropical fruit that would not survive outside — potted avocado, papaya and calamansi in club terracotta — with vines trained up the timber posts toward the ridge.
The Orchard Dome
A bamboo geodesic dome placed at the centre of an open plot, glazed the whole way round for 360-degree views into the orchard. Desk, meeting table and growing systems share one uninterrupted volume.
Planting StrategyA vertical hydroponic tower and a small aquaponic pool run inside the dome year-round. Outside, radial raised beds and a ring of dwarf fruit trees put the orchard at every sightline from the desk.
