How to Keep Your Tulsi Plant Thriving Year-Round

The Sacred Tulsi

Tulsi requires a specific balance of sunlight and water. Many urban gardeners struggle with Tulsi drying up or getting infested with tiny black bugs during the monsoon.

Sunlight is Non-Negotiable

Tulsi needs at least 4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight. If you live in a high-rise apartment, place the pot in your south or east-facing balcony.

Pinch the Flowers (Manjari)

If you want your Tulsi to stay bushy and produce more leaves, you must regularly pinch off the flowers (seeds) at the top. Once a Tulsi plant seeds, it thinks its life cycle is over and stops producing new leaves.

Neem Oil for Pests

During the monsoon, spray a diluted mixture of Neem oil and water once a week to prevent common pests.
