The Journey
Before founding the Urban Food Forest Club, John Jim established himself as a prominent figure in the Indian startup ecosystem as the Managing Partner at Bereishith Capital. With a keen eye for transformative technologies, John spent years investing in and advising high-growth SaaS and AI startups, frequently speaking on funding trends and the rapid emergence of regional investor hubs.
However, witnessing the rapid urbanization of Indian cities and the resulting disconnect from nature, John realized that the most pressing application of advanced technology wasn't just in the cloud—it was in the soil. Driven by a passion for permaculture, he set out to solve the friction that prevents most urbanites from growing their own food. The vision was ambitious: what if starting a balcony food forest was as frictionless as deploying a SaaS application?
A New Paradigm
"We don't just sell plants. We are building the operating system for decentralized urban agriculture. By combining the ancient wisdom of the 7-layer food forest with the immediacy of Q-Commerce and the precision of AI agronomy, we are bringing the farm back into the city."
Today, John leverages his deep expertise in venture capital and AI to lead a multidisciplinary team of master agronomists, software engineers, and logistics experts. Under his leadership, Urban Food Forest Club has pioneered the concept of "Dark Nurseries" — hyper-local, climate-controlled micro-farms that guarantee a 30-minute delivery of living, healthy plants.
